Anna Neil grew up in a small village in Scotland. She moved to Paris when she was eighteen, living and working in a bookshop and painting oil portraits of the writers and customers.
She studied fine art at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2001 with a First Class Honours degree. In 2002 she moved to London to study playwriting at R.A.D.A. She writes microfiction and novels for older children and lives in West Hampstead, London.
